The National Energy Administration has recently released the list of hydrogen energy pilot projects, naming the “Hebei Zhangjiakou–Chengde–Tangshan Hydrogen Energy Regional Pilot” among the selected. Jointly proposed by the Energy Bureau of Zhangjiakou and the Development and Reform Commissions of Chengde and Tangshan, the program includes the Kangbao–Caofeidian long-distance hydrogen pipeline, developed by Haitai Solar, as a key part of its overall framework.

The regional pilot focuses on five major areas — production, storage, transport, utilization, and research — to drive coordinated growth across the hydrogen value chain. This includes electrolyzers, hydrogen storage systems, fuel cells, and hydrogen-powered heavy trucks. Participants have also led or contributed to over 20 national, industrial, and local standards covering hydrogen production, fuel cell systems, storage and transport equipment, refueling stations, and transmission pipelines. As a core infrastructure project within the pilot, Haitai Solar’s Kangbao–Caofeidian pipeline is expected to cut carbon emissions by more than six million tons annually once in operation, marking a major step forward in clean energy transport.
Looking ahead, Haitai Solar will build on this achievement to explore diversified pathways for hydrogen development, advancing the full chain of production, storage, transport, and utilization. The company remains committed to supporting China’s energy transition and contributing to a cleaner, low-carbon future.
